Blackheart Beauty Oil Slick and Revlon Nail Art Stencils

I have a concert to go to tonight, so of course I needed something awesome to wear! I decided to try out my new Blackheart Beauty Oil Slick. I also decided that this would be a good time to use the Revlon Nail Art Stencils I've been hoarding.

I am, admittedly, a bit of a nerd. Some of you may have noticed this. So when I learned that the Distant Worlds concert series was having a special 25th Anniversary show in Chicago of course I had to go! I'm not the Final Fantasy addict I used to be but the music is just so beautiful and nostalgic. I try to see this concert every year and it has never disappointed.

The show is pretty casual but I feel so rude going to see an orchestra dressed down, so I always go at least semi-formal. So, to reflect that, I wanted something unique on my nails that wasn't too flashy.

To achieve this look I started by applying two coats of L.A. Colors Circuits, followed by two coats of Blackheart Beauty Oil Slick. Oil Slick could certainly reach opacity on it's own but I didn't want to have to build up three or four layers. I felt a black base was a better idea.

Next, I pulled out my Revlon Nail Art Stencils and got to work. I used Essie No Place Like Chrome to stencil my stars. I have to say, I really liked working with these. The stencils were easy to use and the resulting stars were very crisp. You can even reuse the stencils a few times if you're careful with them. My only complaint is that these are pretty expensive.

Overall, I'm very happy with this manicure! I actually got a whole host of new Blackheart Beauty polishes and I hope to have them swathed and ready to show you very soon. But now I have to go get ready for the concert!
