Faking a Gold Flake Top Coat

Just a short post today. I'm moving in December so money is a little tighter than usual. As much as I would love to splurge on polish I have to resist the urge. That means I have to get creative.

Gold Flake Top Coats aren't cheap. So I faked the look using some Pearl Ex powdered Pigment (#658 Aztec Gold). It's shown here over two coats of Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris.

Seriously, I've had this pigment laying around for months. I bought it a while ago for another project and I figured why not try it on my nails? You can use this stuff with just about anything, it sticks to any tacky surface and can even be mixed directly into a painting medium. Perfect for nail art.

It really mimics the look of the gold flake top coats, doesn't it? Granted, I can't boast about it being real gold but it still looks fantastic.
