Blackheart Glow-in-the-Dark and Black Light Reactive Polishes from Hot Topic

I've been telling myself that I need to cut down on how much nail polish I buy. I'm seriously running out of places to put all of it, not to mention the fact that I have more than I could ever use. Seriously, how many polishes does one girl really need?

But when I saw that Hot Topic had a sale on their Blackheart Beauty Polishes I decided that I'd reign in my polish obsession some other day.

Seriously. Are these not the coolest polishes ever? Look at those bottles! I have a slight obsession with skulls so I find these bottles to be inexplicably amazing. And those colors! So bright!

I decided to buy Bright Night, Mint to Be and Sweet Dreams. Bright Night and Sweet Dreams are glow-in-the-dark polishes. Mint to Be is black light reactive.

I tried Bright Night first. Since these are brights, I first painted my nails white using Sally Hansen White On. This proved to be a very good idea, since Bright Night is actually rather sheer. It took four coats to achieve the coverage you see here, and it still wasn't perfect.

But wow, does this polish ever glow! Check this out.

Next up is Sweet Dreams. I also applied this a over white base. The application was much better, it achieved full coverage with two coats and went on very smoothly. This pink is fantastically bright and there are tiny silver micro glitters to give it a bit more attitude. Very pretty.

However, Sweet Dreams doesn't glow as well as Bright Night. I had to hold my hand under a bright light for much longer to even see any sort of reaction. Once I got it charged up it glowed a soft pinkish orange. The glow was a bit splotchy, possibly due to the glitter.

And finally, here's Mint to Be.

The application on this one was pretty good. Again, I started with a white base. It took about three coats to reach full coverage and it dried to a satin finish. This polish is black light reactive, not glow-in-the-dark. I don't own a black light so I wasn't able to see what it looks like in it's full glory.

Over all, I'm pretty impressed by Blackheart. They're a great deal, considering these polishes are normally only $5 (even cheaper when they're on sale). I definitely see more adorable skull shaped bottles in my future.

What do you think? Have you tried Blackheart?
